He graduated from the Film Production department at T.C.U., after which he moved to New York City where he acted in several independent films. Thames moved to Los Angeles in the late 90s. Since then he has completed production on the feature film Automatic, on which he served as producer, writer, and actor; and the feature-length documentary Carpet Racers, his directorial debut.
