So you think that shooting a movie is hard? Well, it is. Real hard. I envy the people that can actually get it all done and in the can. For the longest time, that seemed like a faraway idea. Actually finishing the film. But this weekend we got one step closer.

The teaser is shot and we got some great footage. But we're not using film, so I guess we should say that we got some great "tape-age." The lighting was awesome, we worked quickly and it was relatively stress free (for me, at least). James actually did most of the work. Ordering, picking up and returning the equipment. Finding a camera at the last minute. You gotta hand it to the guy... he's dedicated. I helped as much as I could, and all in all I was very pleased with the shots.

But it is amazing what you can do nowadays with the digital camera. When I shot my first film on 35mm with an Arri BL-III, it took a team of 20 to do the shots we did with just two or four people. And the danger of losing money on film is gone. I can't tell you how many sleepless nights I had waiting for short ends to arrive from FedEx. Shooting ten seconds of a take because we had 30 ft. of film. "Shoot something, anything! Shoot that boat, shoot that light." Those days are gone.

I look forward to the editing process, most of which James will handle anyway... but I'll be there to watch and, hopefully, make a few suggestions. I am the lofty co-producer.
